Katya Leonovich F/W 2012: Inspired Architecture

Designer: Katya Leonovich
From her all American sports inspiration last season, a youth infused take on classic American past time sports, it's amazing to see Katya Leonovich grow as a designer; with this season using classic architecture as her source of inspiration.
For Fall/Winter 2012 the designs are reflective of architecture and structures some of which one may recognize during their travels around New York City. The obvious print fabrics are just the shallow surface of the entire inspiration. One must appreciate the use of irridescent fabrics with a metallic sheen, which I find almost mimicking the facade of the iconic Chrysler Building. Furthermore, the structure of the jackets from its sharp geometric angles, peakaboo cut-outs, and angled designs all mirror certain architectures around the city and the world.
One of my favorite pieces in the collection is the dress with the rope detailing that stems from the mid section and all the way through the shoulder, almost like a butterfly wing. The construction, prints, and colors all work together beautifully.

Joy Cioci F/W 2012: Effortless Confidence!

From light romantic pastels of its Spring 2012 collection, Joy Cioci showcases bold strong colors of royal blues and eye catching crimson red for Fall/Winter 2012.
It is a pure delight every season to take in a Joy Cioci presentation, sporty chic best describes the aesthetic for the brand as it gives a youthful life on sophistication. Every piece in the collection is a reflection of "effortless confidence" which the brand is created around. Joy Cioci wanted to created pieces that are wearable yet undeniably luxurious, the clothes all having a 'universally flattering silhouette.
Look #6 became my favorite piece of the collection, it's understated elegance and gorgeous tailoring beautifully juxstapose strength and femininity. (Sloane Pants- Ivory Stretch Crepe Pants, Jade Blazer- Ivory Stretch Crepe Blazer with Black Leather Detail, Cara Coat- Fox Fur Coat). There is something uber chic about a beautiful woman wearing and impeccably tailored suit so masculine, and yet its silhouette still exuding sexy and sultry.

My Style Icon: Lapo Elkann

Internationally acclaimed as one of the best dressed men; recognized by Vanity Fair magazine in their Best Dressed Hall of Fame 2009, and nicknamed 'Lapo of Luxury,' Lapo Eduard Elkann surely earns a slot as one of my Style Icons.
Lapo Eduard Elkan is a New York born Italian industrialist, and an heir to Agnelli automobile fortune. The Agnelli empire encompass Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Lancia, Maserati, and the Chrysler corp including Jeep, Dodge, Ram, and Mopar. Lapo is now the current manager of brand promotions for Fiat Automobiles. Yet, it's Lapo's amazing style that makes him a personal Icon.
Style wise, Lapo's signature double breasted suits and blazers with the over-sized lapel and impeccable tailoring makes him undeniably debonnaire. I certainly admire a guy who is well put together but seemingly effortless in style, and Lapo certainly exemplifies that idea of stylish but effortless.
